Rare Qianlong Period Blue & White Barrel-Form Cider Jug c1780 – Read Description. A superb, authentic Qianlong period cider jug of barrel form with twisted ribbon handle circa 1780 beautifully hand painted in blue and white. Likely made for the European export market although most exports were painted in famille rose colours to satisfy European tastes, making this particular jug quite rare. This is a large item at 22cm high, 13cm rim diameter, 12cm base diameter and weighs over 1.6kg. The jug is ALMOST as perfect as you could hope for. The colouring and glaze are in fantastic condition. The twisted ribbon handle has no signs of any damage or repair whatsoever which is incredibly unusual (I’ve never seen one without a broken, repaired or even replaced handle). Sadly, there is one large vertical crack to the body running from the rim of the jug (opposite the end of the spout), down behind the handle and into the middle of the body. The good news is the crack is stable, there have been no amateur attempts at repair and there is only a small chip missing from the rim. There are also a couple of small surface chips to the front left rim of the spout. Everything else about this jug is exactly as it should be. Please see the photographs for more information. The dome-shaped object with steep sides rising to a short lipped rim and finely incised with three stylised dragon medallions and applied with a mottled copper-red glaze with green and pale pink spots in imitation of a ripened peach, base with six character mark of Kangxi in underglaze-blue. From the Probable Qianlong Period Invoice. Body of the dog has Crackle Glaze Porcelain. See the photos in excellent condition, no restoration. The cat has undergone a couple of restorations to the muzzle, and to one ear, but i think it’s possible again to improve this restoration. Dimensions the Dog 12 Cm Height, 6 Cm Length, 5 Cm Width, Weight 151 Grams. Dimensions the Cat 8 Cm Height, 3 Cm Length, 2 Cm Width, Weight 67 Grams. The Cat in relationship is much heavier than the dog, and i think it’s more old Date 18th Century? Dog maybe 19th Century From opinion of Italian Expert. I Have Bought its From UK Private Collection. Amazing artistic work both in the expression that the dog has, in the strength highlighted with its muscles in evidence, and in the refinement and elegance of the cat with its classic resting pose that the artist has managed to obtain from these works. Rare Yonzheng period C. 1725 conical teabowl with added western deciration. This is a rare example of a piece of blue and white Chinese porcelain that has been exported to either Amsterdam or London and then an artist has painted in polychrome over the top of the glaze. This process which took place between around 1720 and 1800 is known as’clobbering’ or’Amsterdam bont. In this case the porcelain dates from around 1725 with applied decoration from around 1750. The cup is in very good condition. There is a small surface crack of around 1.5 inside the cup but it is cosmetic (photo 7). The cup measures 10cm in diameter and 6cm in height. Rare Qianlong Period Blue & White Barrel-Form Cider Jug c1780 – Read Description. A superb, authentic Qianlong period cider jug of barrel form with twisted ribbon handle circa 1780 beautifully hand painted in blue and white. Likely made for the European export market although most exports were painted in famille rose colours to satisfy European tastes, making this particular jug quite rare. This is a large item at 22cm high, 13cm rim diameter, 12cm base diameter and weighs over 1.6kg. The jug is ALMOST as perfect as you could hope for. The colouring and glaze are in fantastic condition. The twisted ribbon handle has no signs of any damage or repair whatsoever which is incredibly unusual (I’ve never seen one without a broken, repaired or even replaced handle). Sadly, there is one large vertical crack to the body running from the rim of the jug (opposite the end of the spout), down behind the handle and into the middle of the body. The good news is the crack is stable, there have been no amateur attempts at repair and there is only a small chip missing from the rim. There are also a couple of small surface chips to the front left rim of the spout. Everything else about this jug is exactly as it should be. Please see the photographs for more information.
