C e l es ti a l N o n e s u ch. A stunning pair of cloisonne bottle form vases. Incredibly detailed, with an intricate pattern which is incredibly rare, some type of fern. Presumably Antique Chinese, dating to the Qing dynasty, most likely 19th century. For more fantastic pieces come visit our store, where we’ll be posting some incredible Chinese antiquities including Song, Ming and Tang dynasty porcelains and ceramics, art and Jade carvings. A great object for study or display, this will make a nice addition to any student or appreciators collection of Chinese art and artifacts. Fair condition – several bumps and damage to the enamel on both vases – one has three minor dents, the other has five dents with some enamel loss. Please see attached images. Exhibits signs of age such as surface wear and weathering. As they are part of the description, please enlarge all photographs to better ascertain details and condition. Pair of wonderful figurines, depicting the legendary Guanyin.. Guanyin is a Bodhisattva associated with compassion. She is the East Asian representation of Avalokitesvara and has been adopted by other Eastern religions including Chinese folk religion. She was first given the appellation of “Goddess of Mercy” or “Mercy Goddess” by Jesuit missionaries in China. Guanyin is short for Guanshiyin, which means [The One Who] Perceives the Sounds of the World. On the 19th day of the sixth lunar month, Guanyin’s attainment of Buddhahood is celebrated. Here, we see her holding a lotus flower. These finely made figures stand raised on a lotus flower encrusted base and are modeled wearing flowing garments with beaded necklaces and beads in their hair and holding and supporting a flowering lotus stem in one hand. The figures are exceptionally well defined with excellent detail with a wonderful blanc de chine finish. 31.5 cm in height 574g of one and 548g of the other. The hands have been restored. One figurine has losses to tip of finger on the left hand and small chip to dress and tiny chip along the edge of the cape. Other figurine has losses to tip of finger on right hand and restoration to left palm. Please examine all photos carefully. Item will be sent fully tracked and insured.
