These cast bronze horses are copies of one unearthed in Gansu province in 1969 that dates from the Han dynasty (206BC – 220AD). The original is now in the Gansu Provincial Museum, but these are faithful reproductions. A very unusual Chinese export silver miniature shoe, It is hallmarked with Chinese characters the 90 minimum standard mark and the makers mark of Wang Hing. I suspect it would have once been a pin cushion and an insert could be easily made. It is in super condition being free from dings splits holes distortions and repairs. 1.5 inches (4.2cms) long by 0.5 inches (1.5cms) wide and weighs 4 grams. About the item: 5 rare antique early 19th century Chinese or Japanese bronze Koi fish , c 1820. There are 4 single fish and one double example. Each is different and they are all well cast with great detail to the scales, fins etc. They have aged well with great colour and are in good condition given their age. There is some surface wear /marking and verdigris /discolouration of the metal and one fish has a loose tail which can be removed (see photographs).
